give me an F
The Funny thing about this, other than the hilarious pose (the windows of the garage are so high that I had to stand on my tiptoes just to see my own face, from nose up) is that my husband was singing a Bruce Cockburn song that gave me a morning ear worm:
"Hear the cry in the tropic night
Should be the cry of love but it's a cry of fright
Some people never see the light
Till it shines through bullet holes"
("Tropic Moon" from The Trouble With Normal, Bruce Cockburn the Magnificent)
The other Funny thing is that maybe I'm the only one who sees the F next to my chin. I think it's a chair in the garage.
My middle name is Fern. I was never a Fan of F-Troop. I like Flowers and the Fragrance of gardenias.
Looking at my Flabby arms, I am tempted to use the other F word. And then the other F word.
I used this picture in today's selF-portrait. This is not it.
*Here are the rest of the lyrics; they're worth reading, though not, in any way, Funny.
"Away from the river
Away from the smoke of the burning
Fearful survivors
Subject of government directives
One sad guitar note
Echoes of the wall of the jungle
Seen from the air they're just targets with nowhere to run to
Children of rape
Raised on malnutrition
Men in camouflage
Filled with a sense of mission
Light through the wire mesh
Plays on the president's pistol
Like the gleam of a bead of sweat in the flow of a candle
Hear the cry in the tropic night
Should be the cry of love but it's a cry of fright
Some people never see the light
Till it shines through bullet holes
The tropic moon
Bathing a beach fringed with palms
Glitters on shells
And beach tar and coke cans
And on the night-coloured boat
And on the barrels of guns
In the rage in the hearts of these men is the seed of a wind they call
Kingdom Come
Hear the cry..."
Catie on the Keys
Catie playing the keyboard after church, trying to come up with the right notes for our a song we were writing... I was playing along on guitar, except for while I was taking this picture...
